Traces of truth

Truth is a word many desire to know its meaning in life. Truth has been introduced in many ways by men during the course of history, but its real meaning has been hidden from the naked eye.

The Bible speaks about this great mystery the best. In the book of Deuteronomy the scripture in the Song of Moses says the following about it.

“Ascribe greatness to our God. He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.” (Deut. 32:4)

Here it is Moses in His worship of God speaks of Him as The truth. So does the rest of the scriptures Therefore The Truth in the Bible represents God in His justice and righteousness, and its effects is like water that is cleansing. Jesus Christ when asked about His identity He said I AM the Truth, and about Satan He said he is the father of lies. Do you see the contradicting reality between the two? He also said I Am the way, The Truth and The Life. These are few of His great identifying attributes as our God.

Today let us expand on the truth part of His being. He being The Truth makes an inclusive claim of all other lesser so called truths. He was and is The Truth of all men and in Him there is no lie. Where there is a lie there is darkness, since the truth will expose all darkness. Men loved darkness the Bible says and when Jesus The Christ came His Truth exposed all darkness. In Him there is no darkness that is why He is the Light of this world. When He was brought before Pilate the Roman governor Jesus was interrogated about His true identity and there He gave His

Greatest confession. When Pilate was asking Him about being the King of the Jews Jesus said it in this way. “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” (John 18:37) This became the greatest confession He ever confessed before any political leader. Through this good confession Jesus bore witness to the greatest truth ever. He introduced His Father’s eternal kingdom and His Kingship over all the fallen kingdoms of men. It was as though Jesus was declaring what the King of Babylon had seen in his dream in regards to the Kingdom of God coming to men finally. This word of Jesus was so penetrating that Pilate asked him again. What is truth? After being convicted of these words he went out saying

“I found no fault in this man.”

Yes these words spoken by Jesus were so convicting that even Pilate could not take them lightly. In them the truth of His eternality was hidden. In it He spoke of another dimension of life where men could find their rest. This truth made men set free of their fear of death and in it this confession brought hope to a lost human kind. Pilate was the recipient of this good confession. By these words all other dominions and kingdoms were bowing down to the one and only, and by abiding in this truth men could reach to the abundant life promised to them in God. By this Jesus also introduced Himself as the only faithful witness of that truth meaning His God and His Father.

It was this truth that was hidden from the Jews who in Chapter 8 claimed to have known Him. It was the lack of acceptance of this divine revelation that caused Jesus to call them the children of the devil, since in His humanity they denied His deity.

In This doctrinal truth confessed before Pilate is hidden all the treasures of the divine life. Here is where many fall in their understanding of Him. Like to the Samaritan woman when He said “Woman the time has come that the true worshipers will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth” He was speaking about the Holy Spirit’s guidance to reveal Himself as “The Truth”. It was here that the truth of the heart of man would find its rest in Him alone. All dissatisfying objects of man’s worship would end there. Jesus said I AM The Truth’ why? Because in His incarnation man was redeemed to his former innocence. This why when the deity of His humanity was understood by men, in its revelation all heavenly realities were at their reach again. Just like Adam had it in Eden prior to his fall. Here is why Jesus said “All who came before Me were thieves and liars.” This also is why King David upon his conviction of sin declared in psalm 51 that you seek for truth in the inward parts of man.

Here the King of Israel admitted that only through the conviction of the eternal truth through the Spirit of the Truth we can acknowledge our sin and our need for repentance. Here again the scripture shows us just as Paul says it in Romans chapter 1, that those who suppress the truth are the ones who deny the convictions of God for Him being the only Truth and Light in this dark and fallen world. By receiving the Holy Spirit which is called the Spirit of The truth we acknowledge Jesus as the only truth and by receiving Him we are saying yes to God in our need for Him to the end. In acceptance of this great witness of God about Himself we also admit our need to abide in His word. This is why Jesus said to those who believed in Him in John chapter 8 verses 31 & 32 this way. “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know The Truth and The Truth shall make you free”.

By this I believe Jesus meant that if we continually remain in this mindset of Him being the only truth, we would abide in the word that says He is “The Truth”, therefore by abiding in this mindset we will allow the Spirit of His truth to convict us of the darkness that dwells within us, and by doing so Him being our only hope will yield to Him to sanctify us and set us free. This is the greatest freedom any mortal man can seek.

It is by abiding in this truth that we can overcome Satan and his demonic kingdom.

It is by knowing Him as the ultimate truth in His humanity that our self efforts for perfection would cease.

Yes it is here where the free indeed would make real sense. It is here that we would finally reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive to God. Here we would have truly entered in His rest by embracing His truth in losing our lives on to Him, so that we would find it back in Him.

Oh yes it is right here in this mindset that the carnal man stops to listen to the old nature and sees himself dead to his old carnal ways and yields himself to the Spirit of Truth to guide him in all his ways. When men begin to realize the importance of having to give their yeildedness to His Truth and not their own understanding this is what will help them regain their lost identity through the fall. It is here where the law would be powerless to make us sin habitually. It is all right here. Having a true identity with Him through His Spirit of truth within us. I believe this is when the trace of truth would be found in us. In obeying Him as we follow the ways of The Spirit of His truth. Here we are no longer in the effort mode, but we are now positioned for genuine spiritual fruit bearing through the Spirit’s work. This is where in the epistle of 2nd John Apostle John writes to the elect lady in respect to some of her children who were walking in the truth. He says it in this way

“To the elect lady and her children whom I love in truth, and not only I but also all who have known *The Truth, because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever;

Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

I rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father”. Wow! Why is he saying some and not all of her children? Was not that a commandment to walk in The Truth? Yes it certainly was I am sure as it is today, but as it is in our times even then some of us must look hard for the traces of that Truth in a Christian’s lives. Even from the very inception of the time Satan had lied to men to confuse, distort and to bewilder them from The Truth.

As he did with Adam and Eve, he still tries to block all traces of The Truth by offering to man ungodly motivation and inspirations of carnal appetites of His flesh, and even through denying Christ’s humanity in His divinity. Through religion and works of the flesh. An unending tiresome works of self righteousness. He offers man human creativity in lieu of Spirit’s guidance through revelation. He makes men insensitive to the prompting’s of the Holy Spirit, and replaces them with our own carnal ingenuity. To make it short by denying the only Truth about God He camouflages God’s truth through all kinds of lies. The greatest of all Satan uses the strength of a carnal mind’s analytical capacity and through that deceives us into a lie called denial of His double identity.

In doing this he blocks all traces of the Truth which would make Him our only hope in this life and the one to come. By this Satan says you are basically your own God through your

Earthly and fallen intuition. This is why John said in his 2nd letter to the Elect lady that some have given heed to the demonic doctrines of the spirit of antichrist by rejecting His appearance in the flesh. In this they have blasphemed the Spirit of Truth and have given heed to the Spirit of error. The precious Holy Spirit being the Spirit of the Truth is the Spirit of Jesus, since He said I am The Truth. He alone is able to make us wise and prudent in spirit matters. He is the One who gives us the seven gifts of the Spirit by which He alone can make us presentable to Christ blameless while in this life and in the life to come, and these gifts are wisdom, understanding ,counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and the fear of the Lord.

It is by these virtues or gifts of the Spirit of God that we can look back and see the traces of His truth in a life of any true believer.
