The unfathomable gift of compassion Called Mercy

12

This is the story of God’s love for His own demonstrated in Christ the Messiah of Israel. The one loved by women and received by all the downcast and broken hearted.

The story of Luke the 7th chapter verses 11 to 17 is a clear demonstration of such divine truth.

In reading this section of the New Covenant scripture we are face to face with the greatest purpose of our Lord’s incarnation, which is His love demonstrated for us in the form of His sinless Son.

This Biblical event in the city of Nain a day’s journey from Capernaum gives us the heart of our for the Broken people. People who desperately need the greatest virtue of our faith which is the compassionate love of their God.

During the Old and the new testament’s both widows  and orphans had a special place in the eyes of God, since He calls Himself their Husband and father.

Here in this particular event in the history of Israel Jesus Christ is demonstrating this virtues truth to both the mother and the son.

Women particularly have the greatest place with Jesus. He followed the steps of prophets like Elijah and Elisha in showing mercy to women with greatest need.

Jesus in demonstrating the heart of God by these miracles of grace showed what God wanted from His people. He asked men to show mercy and not to bring vain sacrifices.

He said the heart of the law is to show mercy and compassion and that to the neediest.

Women have always been a social outcast by many societies and Jesus came to break this sinful fallacy by His love and care for them in action.

Jesus by performing this miracle for this particular widow demonstrated His deepest care for the need of such people as a widow. Through these miraculous acts intervention He also established the intents of the heart of God for His people. Through these acts of compassion He established His deity in form of His high priestly care for His own. By all of this He proved that He is there for the dawn cast and for the oppressed.

Once again the incident in Simon’s house when the woman who came kissing His feet was washing the Lord’s feet with her tears is another fascinating demonstration of His love for the social outcast.

There once again Jesus rebuked the Pharisee whose guest He was, in lack of compassion for the lost and perishing. Here once again the Lord spoke of the need for love and compassion rather than formal ways of the religious crowed.

In this story the Lord emphasized the urgency of love over any other command. He also granted all the guests to see and understand the heart of the law which said show mercy and justice and faith. Here is again where the prophecy of Isaiah and the words in Matthew chapter 12 were put to practice by Him. “A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment to victory”.

It was for this reason that the soverignly of the Lord had always brought women like this to His feet. He walked in doing the will of His Father in heaven and in doing so He stood as the closest of all relatives to the oppressed and perishing. Especially to women.

His ministry was popular amongst many women, whom He had shown compassion and they became His followers and closest people. Among them very may women of honor and virtue and also women tormented by demons and bound by sin.

He became very popular among the most uncommon people, since was not a common Savior. His ministry to women and orphans were making Him famous with the religious zealots and even causing havoc amongst many.

It was for this very reason that they who followed Him to the cross and then the grace were women also. To them that was much forgiven Love Him much. The women who poured the perfume of her costly alabaster jar were an example of her great appreciation of His love.

Jesus said the act of love of this woman will be spoken of in all generations. Wow what an honor to this gift of kindness in appreciation of God’s love for her.

I trust the Lord seeing Satan’s trap for the woman in the garden He took vengeance on Him by honoring Mary the mother Jesus to be the recipient of God’s greatest grace to avenge His enemy by the birth of our Redeemer and Lord through a women. This was the promise of the book of genesis chapter 3.

Here again we see God being mindful of the dawn cast and oppressed did come to take vengeance for His own.

The Alabaster jar in the hands of this woman represented a great sign of her true appreciation of her redemption.

The true and genuine worship of all these women tells me that in real faith there is much love. Love that is the essence of the Kingdom to come. The love that involves not just mere words of emptiness, but the actions of our faith.

This also tells me the more we look the more we see women in the life and the heart of our Master Savior, which tells me more about Him than any other.

This is why the prophetic book of Daniel in the 11th chapter speaking about the Antichrist says He shall neither regard the God of his father’s nor the desire of women or as some translated it ( The One desired by the women) nor any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all.

Wow what a shocking revelation about the Character of the Antichrist. A complete opposite of our Lord and His heart for His own. Therefore let us worship our King knowing His desire for all of His own.
