The Triumphal Entry

Who is this man whom the crowds are shouting Hosanna in the Highest?
And what form of greetings is this?
Many welcomed this man amongst them as a king. They gave Him the honor of royalty, yet He was riding on a colt of a donkey and His appearance was not of royalty at all.
Who were these who praised Him in this way? And did they truly recognize Him whom they were paying homage to?
These are some of among many questions that the scripture has answered them for us in its entirety.
Hosanna in the highest
What did this mean? Salvation in the highest form or in the highest place of heavens let it be known that salvation has come to men?
Many for centuries tried to answer this question“Who is this Jesus”?
There are so many different ideas about Him and none could be as accurate as what the Holy Scriptures speaks about His true identity.
In the Torah of Moses in the book of Genesis chapter 49 Jacob in blessing his sons in verse 10 through 12 identifies Him asShiloh. Jacob prophecies of Him in this way…
“The scepter shall not depart from Judah nor a lawgiver from between his feet until Shiloh comes; and to Him shall be the obedience of the people. Binding his donkey to the vine and the donkey’s colt to the choice vine, He washed His garments in wine and His clothes in the blood of grapes. His eyes are darker than wine and his teeth whiter than milk.”
And other prophets like Isaiah and Micah and Zachariah are saying the following.
PROPHECY: The Prophet Zechariah commanded the people by the Spirit of the Lord to: “REJOICE GREATLY, O daughter of Zion! SHOUT, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your KING comes unto you: RIGHTEOUS, and having SALVATION; meek, and riding upon a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”–Zechariah 9:9. (Prophecy given 487 B.C.)
FULFILLMENT: Five days before His crucifixion, as Jesus neared Jerusalem, He told His disciples, “Go into the village ahead of you, and at once you shall find a donkey tied there, and her colt with her: Untie them, and bring them to Me. And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, and brought the donkey and the colt…and Jesus sat on them…and the multitudes that went ahead, and those that followed, SHOUTED, saying, `Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord!’”–Matthew 21:2-10.
These are few of many prophesies fulfilled through the life of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But if He wasn’t the one He proclaimed to be how could one man make so many old covenant prophecies to be fulfilled about Himself? Simply it could not be. Family, friends and even enemies were fluffing all that was written about Him. If He was not who He claimed to be how would crowds follow Him in the specific details of the Old covenant. How could He ever convince the ordinary men to follow the footsteps of the scripture? All these speak of His true identity as the Messiah promised to come. Even in His humble entry into Jerusalem on a specific colt of a donkey prescribed by the prophets of old. These were then are now proofs of His deity and sovereignty over time and events. This makes us to know even further that He was the promised Shiloh or son of David who would one day rule the heaven and the earth.
But our question today is, did they all truly understood who Jesus really was or they were only part of the fulfillment of the scriptures?
Men and women, who spread their cloths and palm beaches before His feet, did they truly comprehend what they were doing then? And if yes then what about at the end of that week, did they truly wanted Him crucified? These are again questions only answered by God through His word alone. The cloths and palm branches spread before Him spoke of their admittance of their pilgrimage on this earth. By spreading them before the rider of the donkey they were saying our feast of tabernacles or Sukkoth is under your feet. Meaning we by doing this are crowning you as our King and we through this entrance are receiving you as the King promised to come. We are now positionally celebrating the feast of tabernacle as in the Millennium in fulfillment of prophet Zachariah’s prophecy of chapter 14.
Having said all of this now I want to say the following very difficult truth, that in all this only a hand full truly did recognize Him for who Jesus really was.
Unfortunately it is the same today.
We like the people of Jesus’s day are creatures of comfort and possessor of a fallen nature, that unless the Lord reveals Himself to us individually we would remain like the crowds of Jesus’s day who only fulfilled His sovereign plans.
Scary? Oh yes it is really frightening if you want to think about it, but nevertheless it is true. Look at the two disciples at the road toEmmaus. It was the resurrected Lord who only gave them spiritual understanding to see Him as Who He really was. The crowds never mean true enlightened followers. Today multitudes in Rome, in Armenia, and other countries celebrate this day as Palm Sunday, yet they remain with blind folders on their hearts.
Many sing and praise what they don’t even understand. They are only like the crowds of Jesus’s day who went with the masses to proclaim, what they didn’t even have an idea about.
To those whom the Lord has unveiled His face is the true bride, who walks willfully where He walks, because they know whom they have believed. They will never exchange Him for another. To them He is the way, the truth and the only Life.
To these are the promises and the covenants and to them He says in Psalm 91 the following mystery. “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty”.
Who is this person? And Where is this secret place of the Most High? The true enlightened Bride is this person and this Secret place of the Most High is Christ and His word revealed to them.
The revelation makes it the secret place.
The word says man does not live by bread alone, but by every enlightened word from the Lord. Jesus said to the Pharisees of His day that they looked into the scripture, but the scriptures spoke of Him. Jesus is the hidden manna and He is the true bread. His Rehma word is the secret place of the Most High, and those who dwell in Him meaning in the truth of His word which is the choice Vine, these will also abide under the shadow of the Almighty God. Christ revealed through His eternal word is our only place of refuge. Those who spread their cloths before Him on His triumphal entry and called Hosanna in the Highest were saying this truth, not even realizing what they were doing or saying. They were symbolically saying our temporal lives must yield to the truth brought to us in kingly humility. Meaning we too need to honor His truth in bowing down our lives before Him and His word of truth.
If we are only performing traditions of our elders doing what we do not even understand we too are in wrong. In Psalm 91 the Lord exalts His truth above all and calls it “The Secret Place” of the Most High. Why? Because it is a secret place of refuge and comfort. This unless revealed to us by His grace remains a secret. Many do not receive His word as the word of God Himself and that is why their lives are not protected by the pelages of this fallen world. But here even in the Old Covenant scripture the Lord through His soverignly of grace tells us that all the promises of the following verses are given only to those who dwell and abide in such a secret place. Psalm 91 has many promises to a true beleiver of the Messiah, but the fulfillment of them is subject to understanding of the verse one. The abundant life promised to all believers in Christ rest on the understanding of this one verse
