The essence of true worship

12

True worship is the foundation of our faith.

This heavenly act starts in the center of one’s being and is motivated by an awakening that is brought to us by God Himself.

No man or woman is able to ignite this kind of an urge for obedience to God by themselves. The Bible says Jesus Christ our Lordhad to pass through Samaria and in doing so He stopped at Jacob’s well, which was in Sychar.

This heavenly rendezvous must have been the essence of the future worship that began in the heart of this one woman. A social outcast maybe or a person completely estranged from the common wealth of Israel.

The Bible says it was at noon time when Jesus sat there at the well waiting for this specific person to come to draw water from the historic sight of Jacob’s well. Although this was completely misunderstood by His disciples, but in God’s sight it was the beginning of a wonderful relationship in the spirit.

Along side of this heavenly meeting Jesus said to this Samaritan woman on things which are the essence of true worship. To the Samaritan woman worship of God had a ritualistic traditional meaning, which was handed dawn to by her ancestry, yet to Christ it was a heavenly reality based on truth and that not in the physical, but in the spirit man.

Jesus said to the Samaritan woman there that God does receive worship, but not in mere lip service or observing the traditions of men, but His acceptable worship is in spirit and in truth.

This represented a heart bent on obeying God’s truth through a devotion felt in the spirit, which would be evidenced in the natural soon.

The scriptures say to us that in heaven the angels who did not rebel against God with the rebellion of Lucifer remained in theworship of God and are still worshiping Him by a reverential fear calling Him Holy, Holy, Holy.

Seeing the light of His glory there heavenly beings are praising Him through their obedience they showed by not joining the rest of the rebellious crowed. Worship therefore even in heaven required a genuine understanding of God’s Holiness and in doing that they needed to be honest and truthful in themselves in respect to keeping their God ordained domain in heaven.

This also served as a pattern to all who would follow their model on earth. Worship could also mean an embracement of truth in the spirit, where as ritualistic religion does not have this involvement of the heart of man in it. This once again became the essence of true the worship.

Having heaven full of this kind of genuine worship it requires us to join them on earth by the same understanding and to this end we are tested to be proven accepted and praised by God and the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. The Church of the First Born cannot be void of such truth in its fabric; therefore our motives are seldom being tested by God Himself.  In the book of Revelations chapter 2 verses 8 through 11 we read a very important truth unveiled under a very difficult passage of the scriptures. Difficult because many have a very hard time to associate their faith with passages like this. Unfortunately today’s lukewarm Christianity has left no room for such deep truth in their midst. Today’s Christianity has been reduced to a shadow of what once represented the truth. The worship of God has been water dawn to lip service and singing songs of adoration in performance rather than true worship.

The realities of heaven’s worship have replaced itself in concerts of few so called Christian artists, who lack character and true Christian virtues. No one understands the depth of scriptures as Rev. 2: 8-11. Many cannot even understand those who speak of the truth in this way. To them being tested by Satan to prove their faith to the point of imprisonment and death has no real meaning or value. To the Church having the crown of life and one day throwing it unto the feet of Christ has no relevancy at all. To attain the Character of Christ is not an issue for the Church at all, yet they do not mind in offering lip service to Him in their gatherings.

Manner of life lived before Him Who calls Himself the God Who Sees and Knows all things is not the issue at all. Their so called worship if any is a copy of the world’s method of giving homage to the idols like Baals of this age.

Many refuse to understand the roots of our devotion and the purpose of our faith, and they are kept in ignorant hiding until their faith would be tested to be found unworthy of such grace altogether. Although some of them have the genuine worshipers as their examples, yet they stubbornly continue in their rebellion against the truth. Their confession of Christ has very little to do with true fear of the Lord. This is why scriptures like this which talk about the possibility of second death is not accepted to them as part of the gospel preached to them at first.

These ignorant followers of their own imaginative Christ, want Christ for His benefits, yet are not willing to follow Him to the cross. To them embracing the cross is an ancient myth and their faith has no place for such truth.

These are the ones that the New Covenant scriptures call the last day apostates, who would have A form of Godliness, but

Would have denied the power of it. In the book of 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2nd verse 9 through 12 Apostle Paul says the following in respect to such men and women… “ The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie. That they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Here we read that this group of people did not receive the love that the truth of God in Christ offered to them, or as once I saw this verse they did not have a love for the revealed truth which could save them. These were given over to believe the lie by which they would perish in eternal condemnation.

However praise God that Apostle Paul in 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2 does not stop there and from verses 13 on speaks the words of exhortation to the real believers in his days saying.  “But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.”

Here we see once more that the true saved are separated in their worship, which is uttered in the truth and by the Spirit.

Once again the true worship means a constant awareness of God’s continual presence in one’s life and in response to this, awareness in reverential fear for obeying His Holy commandments through the grace offered to us by His Spirit. This is true worship.

The Old Covenant scriptures in Genesis chapter 22 speaks of God testing Abraham’s faith and in it the word of the Lord in verse 5 tells us that Abraham called the bringing of His son Isaac as a burnet offering as yonder and worship.

Many of us fail to see this aspect of worship in the New Covenant Church. The modern Church loves to embrace all the earthly promises of the Old Covenant, but yet fail to see the predicaments they faced in their devotion and faith before they obtained thepromises of God in their lives.

Many live in the cloud seven of their futile imaginations of their heart. Yet the truth of the gospel to them has become a myth as I said earlier. These want painless, cross less lives, yet still hope to inherit the Kingdom through ease.

In Acts the Bible says as an encouragement to the newly made disciples that through many tribulations we must enter into the Kingdom of God. (Acts 14:22).

Do you see the picture here? To the new disciples as an encouragement this exhortation is made. Today if we said this to the new believers none will remain in the Church. On the contrary today some trying to appeal to their flesh are inviting them to join the Church through worldly methods in catering to their flesh.

That is why many after the first experience of any trial walk away from the ones who tell them the truth in love.

The video games and the invitations to worldly amusement parks and other seeker sensitive methods have replaced the preaching of the true gospel, even to the kids. That is why there is no more poor to whom the gospel is preached to.

The worship of God to many has become a false sense of having fun and catering to the lusts of the flesh and then to sing songs of praise unto a God that is Holy and is aware of even the intent’s of our hearts let alone the depravity of our daily actions.

Worship no longer means the involvement of the core of our being. Worship could mean the utterance of one’s lips, yet with no true devotion of the heart. Worship is no longer done in the humility of man’s awareness of their need for this Awesome Creator. Worship has replaced itself with following motivational songs in singing them in the Church gatherings, but after their emotional effects have dissipated they leave no real effects on the heart of the worshippers. Let alone if it is done in the spirit of a concert performance and that even with people participating in leading them who have no circumcision of the heart. This is why the essence of the true worship in many circles has totally lost its true & intended purpose.
