The Blood

What do the scriptures tell us about the blood?
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood … for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.” (Leviticus 17:11)
In the Levitical writings Moses speaks of the blood as the life source of all living beings.
In another word he says the life of all living creatures is in the blood.
An amazing revelation of God in regards to the source of all life this side of heaven.
In the book of Leviticus the Lord speaks 60 times about the blood and throughout the whole Old Testament the blood is mentioned 360 times.
In this 17th chapter of the book of Leviticus the Lord clearly states that Life of every soul is in the blood and by this text of the scriptures The Lord teaches us the value of the blood . By this we learn that blood that carries the soulish source of life on this side of heaven is the very important thing to God.
Therefore blood is the life of a soul and thus God has provided the blood for the atonement or covering of sins.
Through this valuable spiritual teaching we learn to value the blood and that sacrifice is the giving of one life for another. This is what atonement for sins mean to God.
We also know from the Bible that the blood carries a voice in it that God hears and that meaning the life of a man or an animal which speaks to God, as with the blood of Able, speaking of vengeance as in the book of Hebrews.
But why vengeance?
Because it was shed innocently and not for the means of atonement or in a sacrificial or covering way for another man’s sin.
Having said all this we now can understand the significance of this most valued source of life before God’s own eyes.
The Lord through this great mystery did establish the Atonement or the sacrifice.
Acknowledging this spiritual truth about the blood we now could understand the reason why The Lord accepted the gift that Abel brought to Him in comparison to his brother’s.
This meant that Able had understood the value of the blood in atoning the sins of men. By this act of worship Able told God I like my father Adam am a sinner needing to have the sins of my soul to be atoned for.
In this Able was saying to God that he did acknowledge being a sinner needing for atoning sacrifice of God’s Son.
The very thing his brother Cain refused to admit even after he killed his brother by shedding his blood.
The blood being the source of life of a man also carries in itself the attributes of His soul; therefore it is not strange that even until now men are identified by the genetic ingredients of their blood. This is why the DNA samples speak of the genetic disposition of individuals and the history of their ancestry.
Here is why through the blood the diseases of all kinds are transferred to another generation and if you would receive it the generational sins of men, including the Adam’s sin.
If it is in the blood that the life of a man is, then all his being is represented in that blood.
I believe when doctors ask many questions about our family tree in order to diagnose an illness it tells us the same thing that even the knowledge attained through medicine is proving the heredity of the diseases carried from one person to another. How much more the different genetic patterns and even sins of our forefathers, that comes to us in the same manner.
Having said this we should not be surprised about the forbidden act of drinking the blood of the animals, or eating the meat with its blood still in it even in the New Covenant.
Now having said all this we come into the understanding of the need for an absolute atonement through which all things could be paid for in full. God in coming in the appearance of the flesh took this eternal reality upon Himself to give His life mixed in His blood as an exchange or atonement for the sins of all men. Christ Jesus knowing this eternal reality entered in His creation to sanctify it by the shedding of His blood, which represented giving His life in exchange for ours.
He kept this heavenly principal in mind and that is why Christ Himself took on flesh and through His death on the cross once again fulfilled all righteousness.
The few thousand years of sacrifice of the blood of goats and bulls were consummated by His own final atoning sacrifice.
This also clearly meant that the animal sacrifices were not sufficient in themselves to clear the conscious of men defiled through rebellion of sin and lawlessness.
And physical effects of sin and lawlessness. Prophet Isaiah says by His stripes we are healed. Are we healed only physically? Ofcource not spiritually too.
The value of this blood is unfathomable with human mindset, since in it this royal blood carries the very life of God.
I still do not know if you did understand what I just said?
The blood of Jesus Christ of Nazareth had the life of God Himself. Meaning anything that has God written over it was in this blood including the very life of God, since in the 17th chapter of Leviticus says the life is in the blood.
Were you able to see my point?
Now what do you think Jesus meant when He said this very controversial thing about eating His flesh and drinking His blood, without which He said we would have no part in Him?
Or what about when the Jews cried out saying
“Let His blood be upon us and upon our Children”
These are very difficult questions, but they might have very simple answers at times. For example let us examine what does theblood of Jesus Christ represent? The author of the letter of Hebrews says the blood of Jesus speaks for much better things than the blood of Abel that spoke to God for vengeance.
Secondly if he forgave His enemies from the cross by dying for them and that giving His life as an atonement for their sins and ours, what do you think His blood would do to them who called it upon themselves even done in ignorance as Peter said to the Jews on the day of Pentecost.
You see the problem comes when we do not understand what the word truly says to us many times.
In Matthew the word says “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” (Matthew 26:28)
Or look what the word says in Ephesians
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” (Ephesians 1:7)
And
“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been made near by the blood of Christ.” (Ephesians 2:13)
See the scriptures are full of such truth about His blood and the truth it carries.
These are few of many of the words that describe the priceless power of His blood. Or
Even in the book of Revelations 12: 11 when it says “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.”
What do you think this mention of the blood of the Lamb speaks of? or which attribute of His blood?
Now let us learn the virtues of His blood.
The Bible also says Jesus with His own blood went to heaven and cleansed the heavenly realities and the tabernacle in the heaven.
Then we know His blood is powerful and literally life bearing and delivering.
Also we know that our God is alive and His life is also in His blood, then we can plea His life giving blood over us and over every situation in our lives and by faith we shall see the power of His blood, save, heal, and deliver us from all that is stained by the rebellion of man.
We can plea the blood and call on the blood of Christ for covering and sustenance. To a blood washed beleiver the life of Christ is always available in the attributes of His eternal blood.
The blood of Christ is the only means that heavens will recognize us and it is through the blood that we live. Amen?
