Sting Of Betrayel – Sunday, September 13, 2009
In the world we live in trust is a very rare commodity among men and it is getting harder and harder to find someone to easily trust.
As the end is approaching the evil and it’s reign is penetrating deeper in men’s soul. These are all the signs of the last days. The unredeemed are suspicious minded and full of mistrust due to the presence of the kingdom of darkens and it’s rule over them through the original sin.
Among such we lived before we came to know God and we were all effected by their predicaments, therefore we too have been bitten by it’s deadly sting.
Betrayal speaks of violation and that of an intimate or close relationship and it’s consequences for some could be very severe to a point that can cause permanent damage in some people’s out look on life.
Betrayal is an emotional wound that can set man’s future on a very slippery path. Usually being betrayed by an outsider is somehow expected, yet when it is a close friend or a relative or even a spouse or a child or parent it is very painful to carry it’s wounds.
Sometimes the sting of such wounds are carried into our entire lives causing us to build up walls around us and by doing this the enemy has his plans to destroy us for ever.
However we know that the word of the Lord says “ I have come that you may have life and that is more abundantly” A verse many miss interpret into their own harm, since the scripture declares that our deepest wounds are healed by His stripes.
Satan who knows the depth of our emotional strength likes to wound us from a very young age, and that is why he likes to violate man’s state of a clean consciousness towards man and God by a sting of betrayal or violation of mistrust, because he knows very well that this violation can hunt us dawn like a shadow following us all of our lives.
That is why Satan usually would use emotionally broken and unstable people or just out right wounded people to wound others. If we are alert in tracking this trail we would easily recognize the spirit operating behind such deadly assaults. Satan is very cruel and there is no love or compassion in him.
This is why it’s messengers or vessels are fully surrendered to his attributes.
Many of us before coming to Christ have suffered from his assaults to a very large degree.
Therefore coming out of an offensive and unregenerate background some of us have been seriously wounded and damaged by people or circumstances, and in some cases those were the very reason why we came to faith in Christ, The Only Faithful Friend,
Yet unfortunately after when we open up ourselves to a new found family we find ourselves all over again entangled in the very same thing we ran from.
Having now a clean conscious towards God and man we see the same offense repeating itself within this new found friends in Christ.
Sting of Betrayal
It seems as a very strange thing to come into a family of trusted friends and to be betrayed all over again.
Now it is a blow to our new found faith and it is a complete surprise to the redeemed.
However when we look at the scriptures we can easily see that it is an unavoidable lesson we all have to learn to overcomeAs the earliest part of the scripture is foretold we read that men like Job had felt the sting of such betrayals and had to overcome these deadly assaults by God’s unfathomable grace.
Coming to the story of Job we see in Job the 19th chapter that he said even my breath was offensive for my own wife. Can you imagine the pain in this man’s heart? You see in His case his friends had the best of him by even presenting so called godly arguments for his misfortune, yet the heavens had another reality to testify in his behalf.
King David is another anointed of God who had to suffer many betrayals in his life and the worst of all was the conspiracy of his own beloved son Absalom.
In Psalm 55 Kind David is uttering His greatest cries to God because the sting of betrayal was so deep and so close that it’s venom was impossible to shake off with out God’s gracious help.
Now let us come to our Lord Who was the perfect One in the flesh. He too suffered the sting of this offence when He was betrayed by a kiss from Judas, to fulfill the prophesy of psalm 55 some say the very thing that happened in David’s life brought forth the future event of Judas’s betrayal so that Jesus Christ too, would be a true High Priest for us in interceding for our weaknesses in combating this great violation of trust and intimacy.
And as though Judas’s betrayal was not enough, Jesus had to go through Peter’s betrayal also. At the cross all but very few forsook Him too. But you see this is why He became the author of their salvation, not just a salvation from hell to heaven, but a constant salvation for their every day trails while on earth.
This brings us closer to the conclusion of our word today in regards to the sting of betrayal.
Having fully examined the subject of betrayal we come to see two groups of people. People who were used for such offences and never truly repented from their evil, and others who having overcome became wounded healers to others.
Yes I know your thoughts. Some of you are saying in your hearts, well they were both predestined each one to their own course, but let me ask you a question what is your part in this heavenly foreknowledge of God. What is your choice? Or do you have one?
Well as we always have struggled by such hidden mysteries I would say let us give ourselves the chance to walk on the safe side to say yes I will take my lesson from it all and leave the rest to God who knows all things and the whole truth.
You see after all God is just and His ways are past finding out the scripture says.
For some these trials will be a reason to hang themselves in it’s predicaments with an un repentant hearts, yet to many others
Like Peter it will become an overcoming strength of the Lord to restore many wounds in these last days.
In Matthew the 24th chapter the gospel writer speaks of many offenses and betrayals in the last days, yet it also speaks of those who would endure to the end under such trails and continue to live Godly by His grace.
Remember the scripture can not lie and at the end it will speak, it’s truth in our lives. As Apostle Paul once said
“ I count all things as rubbish, so that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection , and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death. If by any means , I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.”
For some Christ is the aroma of death to death and yet for others the very life of God. Many will look at suffering of the righteous and praise God in the day of His visitation, since it is through the suffering and Godly endurance of the righteous that God’s glory is shown.
The latter part of Job’s life is a great testimony of God’s faithfulness to the vessels of His glory.
You see it is the story of such men that brings comfort to us and further establishes us in the way we are headed. These testimonies of God’s awesome deliverances are serving the purpose of our violence in taking God’s kingdom by force.
This reminds me of few scriptures from the Book of Revelations about the Overcomers who the Bible says overcame him by the word of their testimony and the blood of the lamb.
This also reminds me of the 9th and 10th verse of Revelation 13, which says.
“ He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity, he who kills with the sword must be killed with sword , Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.”
You see it does not matter we are betrayed by others through a kiss or a sword of a sharp tongue , it is our respond in Christ that matters in the end. These I believe could be like the treasures of the darkness that Isaiah speaks in Isaiah 45:3, since it takes the light of the Lord to see it’s treasure while passing through it darkness.
May God gives us grace to overcome and conquer by His strength.
