Making friends with our opponent at law Is the key to our future Blessing

In the search for the scriptures I was once again astound on the American Standard version of the 25^th verse of Matthew chapter 5.

It was as though a light would shine through a dark room.

This translation says it in this way…

“Make friends quickly with your opponent at law while you are with him on the way, so your opponent may not hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer and you be thrown into prison.”

The word opponent or adversary and it’s connection with the law really amazed me.

This was a fresh reminder to me of how the spiritual laws of the heavenly kingdom is still at force here on earth for the sons of the kingdom.

We as men are many times ignorant of the heavenly realm and are seldom blinded by sin into not understanding the realities of it’s existance and it’s effects in our lives.

When I read “opponent at law” I once again saw how in the heavenly order of things we could have an opponent, which according to the righteous law of heavens can fight with us to steal our blessings from God. The major opponent is an unforgiving spirit hidden under human reasoning, which is the greatest opponent of all under the supervision of the law. This is what we need to be making friends with quickly. Genuine act of forgiveness which involves a heartfelt release for the debtor is the means to open God’s true work of grace in our lives. The adversary or the accuser of the brethren knowing  this heavenly reality has bound many in the prison of bareness in regards to God’s abundant living,

Satan being a true legalist knows God’s righteous laws of the heavenly blessings and he opposes us right there in making us captives of it’s spiritual reality.

As we discover in the reading of the scriptures  true repentance does not end in a mere verbal confession, but in a change of action through the free will of men. The same is true here, in Acts the 26^th chapter in verse 20 Apostle Paul defends his argument before king Agrippa by describing genuine repentance with these words which he said… “ The gentiles too should repent, and turn to God and do works befitting repentance”.

You see the works befitting repentance are a sure sign for true change in man’s heart.

Satan knowing such deep spiritual truth always hinders men through opposing them at law, meaning he would come to still our acceptance and the abundance promised by the Lord  through continual nagging agony of unforgiveness. Unforgiveness can oppose us at the law of liberty into all demonic hosts of darkness binding us in chains to the hosts of wickedness through which a sentence of imprisonment is sure.

Agreeing with the opponent or the adversary quickly means to do not let the sun go down on any offence. Many are troubled in being entangled through offences. Offence is an adversary of the soul. A long kept offence at heart turning into resentment can end up in hidden hatred. This process is so subtle that the victim is usually unaware of it’s deadly traps. That is why the Lord said to agree or make friends quickly. Why quickly? Because the longer harboring in  opposition the deeper the entanglement grows to become. The enemy knows how to entrap and enslave us into his own courts of bondage, since he knows the decrees of the law of liberty. A forgiven man has power over the works of darkness, where an unforgiving spirit is in an enemy to God’s power of abundance, of peace and true joy.  True forgiveness is the key to supernatural blessings in life. Anyone seeking to offer an acceptable gift at the altar of God, first needs to go back and make friends in action with an opponent at law while walking with them.

In the dramatic story of Jacob and Esau we see the heavenly warfare in Jacob’s natural disposition. An entire night of wrestling with the opponent at law won Jacob a very renewed status with God and men. It was not only an overnight and a quick battle, but one which took 21 years for both to be freed from the prison of unforgiveness.

Jacob at the end of the night before meeting with his twin brother ask God for victory in the heavenly places and through this he obtained the strength to elevate to a higher state of faith in willingness to give away all in return for a place of peace with God.

And it was only then when God soften his brother’s heart to receive him back in his embrace. Today the absence of kingdom living in the hearts of the body of Christ comes from lack of such understanding among the brethren, therefore many doors stays closed in our lives. The understanding of this spiritual reality is a prison door opener for many.

Today many seek to be strengthened through God’s righteous right hand, yet fail to realize that  its key remains in their own hand. Years of internalized unforgiveness through refusal of making friends of the opponent has made things worse for them, where their breakthrough is just a step of faith away in action.

Internalized long harbored bitterness can harden men’s heart in callousness and by this the imprisonment is much deeper and more complex.

This disease of the soul has many victims in the Church, some obviously bound and some strained through hidden chains.

The unseen kingdom of God is described by Righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost.

Pay attention to it’s order please,

1.- Righteousness

2.- Peace

3.- Joy

Why Righteousness first? Since without first tapping into it, it is impossible to live at peace.

You see through living in Christ and His commandments, the  righteousness of God is restored in us. This rightousness includes the virtue of His heavenly law of forgiveness. In not avenging ourselves and letting men go free in our hearts through our works of righteousness, the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will become ours to maintain. It is then that through living in such a peace the real joy of the kingdom is ours. This is far from happiness, since happiness is ours circumstantially, but joy is a an inner confidence indescribable to the natural man, and all this is only possible in a life lived in the Spirit of God.

An anxious mind has no rest until it finds it’s rest in God and that, in submitting to it’s demands through faith or trust in Him.

The Lord said in this world you will have anxiety, but in Me you would find rest.

Jacob finally found rest in God and in his rest he met Esau. The greatest challenges of life are placed at rest when we first initiate our rest in Him through complete and absolute surrender to God and His righteousness.

His righteousness demands and cries out to us to turn and quickly agree with our opponent at law. This could be anyone in our lives and this demand for agreement could have been from many years ago. But praise to Him that the doors of abundance is always open to us to return and to be embraced by Christ’s heavenly virtue called forgiveness in action.

Many are held hostage at this stage and their gifts on God’s altar are waiting to be accepted upon such obedience of faith.

Today many are sick and hungry and naked and wondering, because an old enemy has kept them from their greatest blessing through the pain of suffering.

Many are still struggling through depression and oppressive spirits of darkness, because of an old offence left un recognized by them. Some are not willing to go back to see the offence treated do to the intensity of it’s pain, yet their freedom is a throwing stone away from their quickest act of letting that offence go.

Tonight I am here to say again, let us turn back in letting the past go and meeting our offences through God’s medicine of forgiveness by our works that are to be fitted unto genuine repentance. Let us make decision to let loose the bonds of wickedness and let us undo the heavy burdens. Let us let the oppressed go free and let us break every yoke.

Here is where we have made friends of our opponent at Law of God’s own righteousness. May God bless us all to receive this call unto freedom and blessing.
