Looking Unto The true Source Of all sustenance

The greatest struggle of our faith comes to end in a very simple word which is to trust.
Trusting the true source of all life is our biggest challenge this side of heaven.
The psalmist in the beginning of the book of psalms starts his words with the blessed man’s condition, which is the joy of all who come to know God, and he relates it to the measure of this man’s trust in God.
The state of blessing is not just what the psalmist starts this psalm with, but the joyful state of all genuine believers in God. This spiritual state of eternal joy is the essence of what is promised to all who trust in God. Psalm 1 starts with a blessing to all who come to know God and put their trust in Him, and all those who would choose the Lord over ungodly choice of friends.
The choice of one’s friendship soon becomes their place of council and eventually the place of their dependence in life.
A deadly trap for all the unwise.
This state of Blessedness or joyful happiness is delighting in the law of the Lord. By this we learn that its privileged place gives us insight in longevity for a long time prosperous state of inner satisfaction that eventually can transform into physical and material manifestations also.
God’s intent is to see us prosperous, but more than materially He wants us to prosper in our return to our lost state of dependence on Him in all matters. The Lord knowing our frame brought our forefathers into wilderness to make them learn His principals before He would lead them into the land of milk and honey of their promised physical Canaan. In Deuteronomy chapter 6 through 12 The Lord through His servant Moses spoke about all His plans for them, which was good. Plans not to harm His own inheritance, but to give them a hope and future. The Lord is seeking to show Himself faithful to His own in all aspects, when we have an ear to hear Him in our midst.
In verse 3 of Psalm 1 there is a very interesting parallel found which is also in Jeremiah chapter 17 verses 7 & 8, that encourages us to seek to dig deeper in learning the secretes of God’s blessings in our lives, both physically and spiritually.
They both liken man’s life to a tree that is planted by the streams of water, whose leaves would not wither, but stays green and produces fruits. However in psalm 1 the psalmist is mentioning an aspect not mentioned in Jeremiah chapter 17 and that is God’s predestined seasons of fruitfulness.
A condition many time neglected by His own. A second very serious spiritual point is the word planted. We must pay a very good attention to the planting of the Lord. When we are a planting of the Lord in His own garden, we will be given the privilege to be planted at the right spot. I know that the Lord will not plant His own choice plan in an unfruitful land.
Oh that how often we completely neglect to see the details and the extent of His love for us in our election according to grace. The parallel in Jeremiah’s account I believe is completing the entire picture of His sovereignty in choice of His vessels of honor in mercy.
In Jeremiah the 17th chapter the prophet is making a comparison by exposing the heart of the unredeemed and speaks of a deep revelation of His own elect in their sovereign plan of election according by grace. Even to the point of their predestined position in Christ, who is not clearly mentioned in this picture.
In Jeremiah 17: 7 & 8 the prophet exposes the hidden secret of grace for God’s own remnant elect. The word here in the New American standard version of the Bible speaks of an awesome exposition of a deeper truth about endurance and fruitfulness.
Here the scripture says it in these words.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord.” “For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends
(or spreads) its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be greenand will not be anxious in a year of drought, nor ceases to yield fruit”.
What an incredible comparison in the metaphorical demonstration of the Lord being the stream of theLiving Waters and us extending our roots to it downward for sustenance and fruitfulness.
Several words grab my attention here in these few verses. First of all the prophet sees the wickedness of the unbelievers and their and their short lived counterfeit prosperities, but still praises the Lord in His choice of His own saints, and for their faith in Him.
The words extend in a downward pursue of sustenance through water. This speaks of a deep revelation of seeking hidden means of
Supernatural sources of life hidden in Christ. It also speaks of a complete declaration of rejection of outside sources of occasional or temporary means of sustenance. Also the word anxious speaks of a mistrust that would be theirs who are only used to depend on temporary things of this world. But the green leaves of those who are being nourished from the hidden source of constant reliance in trusting in Him is the representation of their calm state of their inner confidence on Him in all situations. The heat also speaks of the attacks in the lives of all who are planted within the garden of the Lord as Psalms 91 speaks of, yet again the ones who have learned by His mercy to be fed by the stream of His Living Waters will enjoy His grace in times of spiritual attacks. And eventually the year of drought is a general time of famine or darkness where the man taught by the Lord will be sustained through grace even unto fruitfulness.
This fruitfulness is very much a parallel of the word in John chapter 15 that has an abiding in the true Vine cause and effect. In the year of the drought, meaning in a year that many would stop producing fruit due to the conditions of their surroundings this remnant would yield their lives in true fruitfulness. I believe these would be people who have been trusted the Lord in the good and bad times. Their means of sustenance had been the Lord through their extension of their faith downward. They were not seeking sign and wonders or outward blessing while journeying with the Lord. They wanted Him and not His benefits and He has taught them to abide in Him for all things. These are those who have been trained in years for yielding themselves to Him in submission and now they are going to yield in fruitfulness when others don’t see how.
Yeildedness of their lives for many years are now ready to yield its fruit of righteousness when many are ready to quite they are ready to blossom again unto fruitfulness. As we have entered one of the greatest challenging times of living on the face of this earth, this message is a message of hope.
Hope that would not perish, a hope that is sustained through a complete trust in Him. The challenge is to receive this word by faith, when what many have walked on for years is being shaken in these final days of restoration.
Jesus our Lord was asked by His disciples when the kingdom will be given back to Israel and He said it in this way… “The Time and times are not for us to know, yet later on in Acts chapter 3 verses 18 through 21 Peter spoke of the times of restoration of all things, which I believe we are in right now.
Therefore I believe this is a word in due season for us who are looking to enter into the greatest and the most challenging time in the history of the Church and the world.
Then let us draw to Him with all confidence, because he who has called us is faithful and can bring us to the other side as He has gone before us through faith.
Amen?
God Bless You
