Life of God

12

One of the most profound announcements of Christ Jesus about Himself is found in the 14th chapter of the gospel of John. Here Jesus
our Lord breaks the greatest news about His deity. A threefold pronouncement of His sixth I AM’s.

Many of us Christians read over these scriptures very casually and being a follower and a believer take very little heed in the deep divine truth hidden in these words. Although in the very first few verses Jesus established these divine truths about Himself, but in them is hidden the great treasure of His heavenly wisdom.

He speaks thing which to a carnal man they are blasphemes and impossible to be grasped by his own understanding. Also in them is hidden the greatest promises of God for those who believe in His Son.

Today rather than focusing on the promises or peace, and the place He spoke of in heaven being prepared for us I would like to speak about the pronouncement of Him being the Life. You know very well that when we read these truths they are very comforting to us, but to many these are the most controversial words ever spoken by any man. To dive deep in these truths we would see that unless the Lord gives us understanding we too would be lost in trying to make sense of it all.  This is why our faith in God is so much the opposite of all manmade religions of this world.

Jesus being like a spiritual revolutionary was saying things by which His own generation called these word a great blasphemy to all they had ever known in their carnal mindsets. Religion by no means could recognize these words.  As I said earlier today we want to talk about Him being the Life.

What does it mean “I AM the Life”. A very peculiar thing to say. We humans see life as our short lived time on this earth, and we always associate that with the events that describe our pilgrimage on this earth, good and bad events that surrounds us while living and breathing. When we are asked how is your life? We always respond in accordance to our estimation of our situations in comparison to our expectations or the standards placed before us by the community we live in. Our cultural understandings also place a great deal of emphasis on our respond to this question. To a tribal person living in the poorest part of Africa a good life would mean so much different than a person living in Beverly Hills. You see how our responds could vary? We see life with complete different lenses, from what God sees it. Jesus Christ the Messiah in His most intimate time with His own described a new concept of life that was very foreign to His disciples.

When He said I am “The Life”. By this the Messiah was accomplishing that which was the most urgent need of His own. To have fellowship with the life of God Himself in a practical way. The very thing they had lost through Adam’s transgression in Eden. Here is where man’s view of this short lived life would completely change. Man after being introduced to this heavenly concept would look on his own life in a totally different mindset. When man thinks His lot in this life is at its best 70 or 80 years he begins to develop a selfish outlook on his own pilgrimage, but being introduced to eternity with God he begins to mend his way by the way of revelation. Jesus not only said I am the Truth and the way to the Father, but He said I am the Life of God offered to you. In this Jesus was drawing all men to be partakers of the benefits of the eternal Godhead through experiencing  its utter fulfillment right here on earth.

It was so that men could find the higher purpose of their existance in God. Through this amazing pronouncement of Jesus about Himself He was introducing the fellowship of man in the eternal existance of God and His divine attributes in helping him to live with a higher purpose in life. This divine truth gave His disciples a brand new way of looking at their pilgrimage on this earth. Their earthly existance began to make complete sense now. They began to see life in a brand new way, since now they had their mind adjusted to God’s standards and its eternal joyous  pleasures. In psalm 16 David the king of Israel said “You will show me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore”. ( Psalm 16:11)

Here even King David in his prophetic vision sees the joyous life offered to all who would share in Christ through living in Him by a crucified life of in respect to this world. This meant by embracing Christ’s deity men would begin to share in the life of God. Here is where a new dimension of heavenly minded existance would be ours. Here is where the events in our daily lives would stand to be weighted  and compared with the eternal glory of God. This is where  our perception of life  would  change  in regards to the difficulties of this earthly and temporal living. The Hero’s of faith mentioned in the 11th chapter of Hebrews lived their lives in the view of eternity and not where they were at in their sufferings. Having tasted the heavenly life of God through embracing His Son gives us this amazing meaningful journey on earth. Now is when hope becomes the greatest motivator of all in our lives.

In the letter of the Apostle Paul to the Ephesian Church in chapter 4 verses 17 through 21 he speaks to them about their new identity in Christ in this way.

This I say, therefore and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But you have not so learned Christ if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus”.

Here basically Apostle Paul is saying if you have been in fellowship of the truth that exists in Christ then you have had partaken of the very life of God and if so you should view and act very different from those whom never have been partakers of this divine life.

Here is even where Jesus asked His own disciples to partake of His body and blood. A very unkosher mindset to a carnal Jew.
