Grace to Hear God

Tuesday Oct. 21, 2003

It really is a grace to be able to hear God when He speaks. Many of us are yet to learn and to distinguish between His voice, the enemies voice and our own.

In the past we talk about the word Shema, which means to hear with your heart. But now let us examine the Old and the New Testament scriptures for this important truth in our lives.

In the Old Testament no one was able to enter the Promised Land except the one’s that only heard God’s voice speaking through His prophet Moses. The ones who did not enter the land of promise these were the so-called follower’s of men or the ones who would not hear God speaking through a genuine leader. ( Number’s 12:1-16)

The recipients of God’s promises should have ears trained by God to hear Him in everything, through His anointed Leaders or through life circumstances and even through wilderness experiences and God’s redemptive punishment and to have heavenly wisdom in discernment between mans own words and Gods word spoken through Him This includes not trusting in their own human wisdom and their own words spoken out of their own spirit. In the New Testament Book of Hebrews two of these method are clearly demonstrated. First it is mentioned in verses 12 through 14 of chapter 5 and secondly in verse 17 of chapter 13.
