El Elyon The Most High God

A study that we might Know God As our Strong Tower Whose Name is…
El Elyon, which means…
God is SOVEREIGN
which again means
GOD IS IN CHARGE OF THE ALL THE UNIVERSE ALL THE TIME.
The most high God
Strongest of the Strong
Superlative God – surpassing all others
GOD IS SOVEREIGN OVER…
The angelic hosts of heaven
(which includes Satan & demons)
and
All Inhabitants of earth
GOD IS SOVEREIGN OVER…
Satan
Job’s Experience
Job 1-2
GOD IS SOVEREIGN OVER…
Satan again in the story of Daniel … Daniel chapter 3
Example of
Shadrach, Meshach
and Abed-nego
God is sovereign over Satan’s power
When God permits Satan to “light the furnace”, you can be confident that He “keeps His hand on the thermostat!” (Daniel 3:19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25
Nebuchadnezzar addressed the three as “servants of the Most High God”! (Daniel 3:26, 27, 2818
Note that they convinced El Elyon could deliver them and yet were ready to burn if God allowed (Daniel.3:17, 18 ).
Yes again He is The all powerful over Inhabitants of earth He alone exalts men and He alone humbles them dawn. He appoints and men and He raises their horn and He makes them step down.
Again in the book of Daniel He showed His sovereignty over the king Nebuchadnezzar.”Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise, exalt, and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride.“ Daniel 4:37
This again means all belong to His in heaven and the heavens.
If He is the Most High then what is His perspective on the problems in my life?
is everlasting
(“Dominion” = supreme authority)
Daniel4:34-note “But at the end of that period I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever; for His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom endures from generation to generation.
This again that He sees all things.
This again means that He is the one to whom all knees will one they bow and He is the one humbling all the prideful. His sovereignty as His name El Elyon will subdue all things to Himself one day.
Knowing this fact about the God we worship is so freeing that makes us live in freedom in His presence and it comforts our hearts that nothing passes by His Sovereign eyes.
This why he says let no one judge anything before hand. He alone is the Most sufficient judge of all the heavens and the earth and all that is under the earth.
Here is where I was reading in Micah chapter 7 verse 4 and my eyes caught this unfathomable truth saying
“The day of your watchman and your punishment comes, now shall be their perplexity.”
The day of your watchman in this passage refers to the Day of the Lord and the word watchman here means examination”.
He Does according to His will
Daniel 4:35-note “And all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, but He does according to His will in the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of earth; and no one can ward off His hand or say to Him, ‘What hast Thou done?‘
A very similar note to what Apostle Paul writes in Romans chapter 9 when he says.
“But indeed O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it. “ Why have you made me like this?” Does not the potter have power over clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?”
“ What if God wanting to show His wrath and make His power known endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, and that he might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had prepared beforehand for glory. ( Romans 9:20-23)
Wow The God of all glory has all under His control even the darkest secrets of men’s heart and the most difficult times of all the history is not hidden from His power and glory.
This the Father we all worship, who has called us to hide under His pavilion. Yes he truly is the El Elyon. No one can ward off His hand, and no one can question what He does.
How would this affect my worship?
Just like Job.
Job’s God is the same today (He 13:8) and desires you to experience Him as did His saint Job. He desires you to know Him as the One in whom you can place your complete trust in every circumstance–whether times of great joy or trials of great affliction.
We would all do too well to ponder and practice Paul’s pattern of praise regarding God’s omniscience, sovereignty and power…
This also is why Paul in the letter of Romans also is fascinated by God’s greatness and wrote the following words about Him…
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, OR WHO BECAME HIS COUNSELOR? Or WHO HAS FIRST GIVEN TO HIM THAT IT MIGHT BE PAID BACK TO HIM AGAIN? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him is the glory forever. Amen
Knowing this aspect of His being give all the remnant of His elect a rest in Him through which we could stand and worship Him in Spirit and truth. Knowing that He is not just a powerful God, but He is the Most Sovereign One over all. He is the same who came to Abraham as the prince of Salem, the same also who came to Him as an Angel of the Lord, He also is the same who
Came to promise Him the coming offspring. He is the same God who appeared to Moses and walked in the time as the babe in the manger. He is the one who appeared as the sin offering on the cross and he is also the one who came as the resurrected Lord.
He is also the same one who appeared to His disciples behind the closed doors and he also is the same who appeared to Saul on the road to Damascus.
Oh yes He also is who appeared in your life and mine and I can assure you he is the One soon coming on the clouds wearing the royal robe seating on the white horse to judge all the inhabitants of the world.
He alone is the One who has the right to open the seals in heaven and He also is the one who created all in all.
His name is El Elyon
God The Most High. Your God and mine, therefore let us worship Him while waiting our redemption draws near. Amen? Amen.
