An Amazing grace in the midst of God’s sovereign act of Judgment

The Bible speaks of the first judgment of
God over the rebellion of the first world, and in it God demonstrates His unfathomable act of grace called the favor of the Lord on one man Noah.
In the book of Genesis or (The first beginnings), the Lord speaks of His displeasure with the wickedness of that world and How all intention of sons of men became evil. However in the midst of it He had a vessel who stayed in favor with the Lord and that not according to works, since they came as an evidence of faith later. A pure act of grace. In His anger His wrath spared one man and His entire family from the world wide judgment to come.
God speaking to Noah poured out His heart to him and His intent of destroying all that had become evil on this earth. He found a friend in Noah and He revealed His agony to Him.
Therefore Noah began to become a vessel of faith in hearing God and His purpose on this earth and in complete surrender and partnership he began to build Him an Ark, which would stand the first judgment.
Noah became aware of a higher standard of righteousness by completely giving himself to the task.
Noah forsook the world and their opinion for God and His calling to inherit a better resurrection and be the author of a higher virtue called righteousness.
The Book of Hebrews declares that the world was condemned by His righteousness.
Wow!!! What a testimony to possess?
The Bible says the Ark was completed in 120 years and the work included God’s spirit bringing all animals to Noah for the saving faith of one man’s obedience. It has always amazed me how God is sovereign on all things that He has created, even within the animal kingdom there were remnant elect who would hear God and His man and in the fallen world still they would stay tamed in following the God’s elect.
It is amazing; this wisdom is truly above me and my human concept of things.
Many are the wonders of this Awesome Creator called God who showed Himself in the person of His Son (Jesus the Christ). God has amazed me in many ways in my life, but I still stay in awe of His great plan over all who are called not according to our own goodness, but according to His righteousness.
What a profound truth called grace?
After the work was finished the Book of the Torah says God closed the door behind Noah and his family and the windows of heaven were opened, through which God sent the flood for 40 nights and days.
The world suffered the loss of its population of wicked men and the pollution of their evil doings.
God testing their hearts had given then to the wickedness of their sin and even the angels who did not keep their proper domain were cast into the lowest part of the earth.
This was the end of the first dispensation ending in Judgment. However in the midst of it God being the only merciful Creator had left Himself a remnant of 8 people and some animals to show His grace.
The understanding of grace in election of the remnant who would obey God in His commandments is just truly beyond my own understanding.
Noah representing a man who was being guided by the Holy Spirit is using a dove a symbol of the Holy Spirit to affirm the safety of the ark having landed on the chosen ground for the restoration of life on this earth.
Many times we want to walk on grounds of our own choosing, yet the scriptures in Romans 8:14 says “Those are the sons of God who are led by the Spirit of God” .
Oh what a model of a man who was guided through by the spirit of the Lord. This gives me another picture of God’s driven ministry of the spirit for all who are called of God though Him.
The magnificence of this amazing act of God’s justice is just truly beyond human capacity of comprehension. Only the spirit of God could make one reconcile with such heavenly truth called Wisdom.
Now in genesis 9 the Bible tells us how the Almighty spoke to Noah of His plan for repopulating the world unto fruitfulness.
Here is where God in Genesis 9: 6 & 7th verses speaks of His plan of restoration of His redemptive plan for man and His eternal redemption through them in Christ Jesus the Messiah.
Yet in Genesis 8:21 when Noah obeys to build God an altar and brings Him a sacrifice offering being a true a worshiper of God The Lord tells Noah a very hard saying and that is “ The Imagination or the intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth or childhood”. Wow what concealed truth about our sinful nature and that from the very young age? Meaning the sinful disposition is upon man’s fleshly birth through Adam’s sin. Yet
It was after this revelation that the Lord made a covenant of grace with Noah and His children again to show them His unmerited favor on mankind even when He was just finished destroying the earth for their sin.
Oh right after this the Bible introduces us the sons of Noah as Shem, Ham and Japheth who were to repopulate this earth by their decedents. Now our word takes its highest form of grace to teach us more about the word amazing grace here.
The following verses of Genesis chapter 9 says it this way in verse 20 the scripture tells us that Noah became a farmer and planted a vineyard and drank from its fruit and became drunk from its fruit and became naked and his own son Ham gazing at his father’s nakedness ran to expose him in his lowest state of shamefulness.
Man!! This passage terrifies and amazes me both at the same time. Terrifies me because it exposes the dangers of ease and the calm after storm or the dangers of prosperity after being rewarded by God. It also frightens me since it exposes the heart of a son who had just watched God working with His anointed father for 120 years and then he could despise God and His anointed vessel for one error. It shows me how soon people forget God’s hand on His chosen elect?
It frightens me of how even our next of kin, who was saved by God’s grace to our obedience to God in election of grace can over ride this goodness and bring a curse on themselves, just as Lot’s wife did. Church Ham was not a stranger, he was a son who saw one man’s obedience for 120 years, yet was ready to expose him in his shame.
It frightens me to see how many of these we have among us, who forget the labor of our obedience and despise it for one sin.
It yet amazed me of God’s election of grace of Noah’s two other sons who were willing to bare the shame of their father’s mistake. Who were righteous enough to cover their elderly father’s fatigued and naked body, not willing to expose it to inherit a curse, but a blessing? The cloth upon their shoulders I believe did represent God’s continuing grace on his faithful servants. Not a cheap grace, but a grace that does not break a covenant of peace.
Well the Bible says Noah and His sons came dawn from Mount Ararat in Armenia and began to repopulate the earth and here we are today. But I pray that the Sovereign Lord in His mercy will extend more grace upon us that we too inherit a blessing by being covering for many peoples, since we have His Son Jesus Christ looking away from our sins and coving them with His unfathomable love and the garment of His eternal grace.
A grace that still amazes me daily the Amazing grace that saved a sinner like me.
God Bless
