A Godliness with Contentment is our greatest Gain!

(1Timothy 6:6)
Many search for the meaning of their lives after they have become Christians and seldom have they seemed to be truly happy campers. This is a very serious issue of these final days. What is the greatest gain of a truly born again spirit filed Christian?
Many go here and there as though looking for something they have lost, but in reality I believe they are looking for the very same thing the Lord has shown us in His eternal word of truth.
A non believer can walk in lust for more, but a truly immersed in Christ can only be satisfied through an abundant life in Him.
Dissatisfaction is a true sign of unfulfilled, and un edified life. Prophet Isaiah explains this carnal state of our wondering in the desert of suffering in the following words. “Ho! Every who thirsts come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good and let your soul delight itself in abundance,” Isaiah 55:1-2
Here the prophet Isaiah discerns through the Spirit that men will never be in total satisfaction no matter what they receive in life, and through this revelation he cries out for the spiritual awakening of the remnant of God’s people. Here he says do not spend your wages, your hard earned money for what is only temporary it is here today and tomorrow it would decay. He says your life is more than just things. Come to receive the life that is everlasting. Jesus did the same thing when He stood in the temple and cried out the same words saying “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me
as the scriptures has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water”. John 7:37-38 Here Jesus was speaking concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive, because Jesus had not been glorified yet. By this the Lord said upon coming of the Holy Spirit all other lusts for more of this life would be satisfied by Him. Therefore when we feel dissatisfaction of all kinds it is a reminder to us, that we have an activated alert in our spirits that something major is wrong with our Christian walk. Lust for anything but the fullness of His life in us speaks of an emptiness in us which is not from God.
The heart of man is a very deep place and many mysteries are hidden there. God is the only one who knows the issues of the heart and it is from the abundance of it that our mouths speak. Therefore we must constantly have God examine our hearts and show its true condition to us.
Many have misunderstood the words of the scripture in regards to the condition of their hearts. Many think we have a good heart, but the bible says the heart of man is desperately wicked. This ofcource talks about the unredeemed nature of our flesh defiled in the Garden of Eden through lust. The book of Genesis says Satan deceived Eve by the Lust of the eyes and the Lust of the flesh and thus brought them into the pride of this life. Yes the fruit offered to Eve was appealing to the carnal nature of men. This nature still wars in us against our new nature found in Christ. The nature of sin has an ancient appeal to the lust for more and it is never satisfied until it meets the eternal living waters of life. This simple truth tells us in our humanity we possess a nature that is never satisfied with anything. Why? Because by being partakers of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, we have bowed dawn to its eternal quench for more. Adam through lust exchanged the contentment in God with the lust for more
of this temporal life. Not knowing He forsook His eternal Well of satisfaction, which was the purpose of His creation. Satan or “Lucifer” who lost his place in heaven and exchanged his eternal status through lust for more made us heir of the same eternal prediction. He was a high ranking ark angel a beautiful creature, but unsatisfied with his own place and authority lusted for more. He began seeking to become like God and wanted to put his throne above God’s, and through this He lost his place with God. In the wisdom of Agur proverbs 30 verses 15 and 16 says it in this way… “There are three things that are never satisfied, Four never say “Enough” The grave, which in Hebrew is “Sheol” the place of the dead and the barren womb, The earth that is not satisfied with water and the fire that never says enough”. You see all of these are sure signs of the penalty of rejecting God in His satisfying goodness.
Only through a genuine thirst for God Himself man can find rest and satisfaction in this life. In our new found nature of Christ we must thirst for more of Him. Otherwise the former beastly nature creeps in to steal, kill and destroy the abundant life only offered in Him. As long as we look to any other for satisfaction we will fail to miss the goal of our salvation. Jesus crying out for those who are thirsty to come was basically saying “Is there anyone here who is tired of running after un gratifying things of this temporal life?” If so then come to receive what are the only thirst quenching eternal waters of the life to come. This is, since it represents an indifferent response to His offer of eternal satisfaction through salvation brought to us in Him.
It is a direct slap in His face in saying you alone are not enough or are not all what I need. If all we need is not Him then, why do we even care to be called His people?
The Bible speaks of Hell as the waterless pit. Have you ever thought about this description of Hell? Why water less? Just because it is a place of un quenched fire? Or could this have another meaning too? Water in this life is an essential part of life, and it contains the majority of our weight. It is a source of life and sustenance this side of heaven. It also is a type of the word. The Bible refers to water as the word and Jesus said the Living Waters coming up from our belly represents the Holy Sprit’s out flow in our lives. Have you ever put these words together to grasp the true meaning of these metaphorical examples of the New and Old Covenant scriptures? Why did Jesus meet the Samaritan woman by the well of Jacob? Why did He offer another kind of water? Why water? You see the life of this woman was about an unquenchable fire of lust for more, since she had many husbands. The desert of this life in its fallen state had offered her an unsatisfying respond. Yes an unquenchable lust for more lust.
Just like the description of Hell this life too is a form of bottomless pit that in itself is waterless less through its burning desires for more… After being expelled from Eden we are left here on this earth with an unsatisfying thirst for more of this fallen world. Men burn from the fires of an unseen Hell in wanting more of all things, but are never satisfied with anything, even to its abundance at times, this by the earthly wisdom attained through having eaten from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Look at Solomon King David’s son. He asked for wisdom under the sun, and by it he received many un satisfying things in this world, yet at the end they all left him un gratified. He called them all a chasing after the wind. Vanity of Vanities. In all the splendor of his majesty Solomon’s true thirst was never quenched. He was an extremely rich, handsome, powerful man, yet at the end of his life he saw them all a chasing after the winds of this short lived life.
He saw his life as a waterless pit unending with its demands for more. Yet to the Samaritan woman Jesus gave the true meaning of life. He spoke of the Living word of God that upon coming to her she would not be left thirsty for more. Words of life that would come from her inner being which would quench the mortal desires in her for evermore. He said to her that there is a hidden Well available to man that which could only water the endless pursuit of this meaningless life. He told her “Woman of this water you would be thirsty again, but the Living waters flowing from your heart will satisfy you the best”. Yes Jesus did not speak only of the written word “The Logos”, but the one that is inspired and revealed through the Holy Spirit’s illumination. Having said this Jesus spoke of a deeper mystery. An unknown mystery to man in all generation. Yes He could very well be speaking of the utterances of the Spirit of God in us, and that could very well mean speaking in a different tongues than we normally would. Off of this one many could run to drink from.
Oh yes it is through this living waters that men could escape from the endless desires of this life. Since this water could quench the earthly desires for acceptances of all kinds. The need for love and peace and inner strength, and understandings of all kinds just like Knowledge, grace and forgiveness, hope and wholeness in being redemmed from the painful agony of loneliness and despair. It is offered from the well inside that can constantly water the fiery lust for more in us. It is even this gift of God deposited in our spirits that can break the power of a religious spirit and its deadly approach to God. You see it is this huge unmerited favor of Godthat could set us free from the pangs of this earthly life in any and all dimensions.
And it is through this inner deposit of God’s eternal power that we have an escape from the unending condemnation of Hell in all its endless tortures, even from the pitfalls of a religious life lived here on earth.
